YES we are arguing about the success rate of clones in another thread, but as discussed today on OOC, and I have brought it up /before/…

I think by typing ‘suicide <password>’, it should negate your clone.

SOme would argue that this makes no sense, since you obviously cloned before you got the idea to suicide (ICly, anyway), /however/ as Andvari brought up, you wouldn’t suicide your character unless you KNEW your clone would work. This is ridiculous of a concept and quite frankly, I think it should be against the rules.

Debate. Without bringing up IC on OOC. Or don’t debate. Just do it, imms. =p

Contrary to AIM opinion there is no 100% guarantee that a clone will work, even via buyclone.
We’ve seen several HORRID knee-jerk reactions recently already, such as the blockade distance being rubbished, everyone waking up with minimal hp, and so on. Why must we risk another just because a few people are menstruating about not being able to gloat over a prisoner?

Came on a little harsh there, Ralen. Might wanna work on that. =p

It was his decision to make and he made it. If he’d have permed himself, the MUD would have laughed at him for the rest of eternity. He lucked out.

Raise success rates some, don’t skip a clone when suiciding.

There needs to be more penalties for cloning. Forcers shoud lose levels, successive clones(at the very least after the second) should degenerate stats/hp/levels wise. Hell, if you wanna be a real pedantic bitch, we could have clones wake up as youths or suffer "accelerated aging".

The longer you wait to activate a clone, the less severe the effects will be <!– s:twisted: –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_twisted.gif" alt="" title="Twisted Evil" /><!– s:twisted: –>

Okay, I’d have to agree with the whole suicide ‘password’ should negate your clone. Let’s be honest with one another, ‘suiciding’ is not really taken ICly, nor is the command [b:2rak1re7][i:2rak1re7]really[/i:2rak1re7][/b:2rak1re7] IC. When people are typing out suicide followed by their password, they are, for all intents and purposes, closing off that character, deleting it forever. That is the general intent of it, am I not right?

SO! For an OOCish type command to be ‘abused’ or used ICly to negate being taken prisoner just to recover on a clone, that does seem a bit retarded. I’m with Bai on this one. Suicide should be used as a ‘delete’ command or if you insist on making that rather stupid roundabout to being in prison work, then separate it into an OOC and IC command of delete ‘password’ and suicide ‘password’. That way, there as no more qualms, but it’ll never remove the gayness that is suicide just to escape being in jail.

Next time, just fucking live out your sentence and die honorably. Suiciding to avoid jail is a horrible, HORRIBLE RP method. It really is. Especially if you’re s’pose to be a forcer ‘held to higher RP standards’ than everyone else. Logic would dictate you RP out the existence in prison and then continue from there after your execution (if there is one) on your clone.

You’re forgetting character types. If your choice is death, or being kept as a caged rat, some characters might find death more appealing. Regardless if they have a clone or not. You are not every character, you don’t know how every character has developed. You’re also holding honour to be one set thing, when it’s also defined base on the person. Being held in prison indefinitely is not &quot;honourable&quot; for the character being held in my book, but I can also see how it would be if the character was roleplaying redemption. In the end, you’re judging characters without knowing their thought-process/development.

I beg to differ, I think the command is 100% IC; the help file says as such. Obviously it has heavy OOC implications and overtones, but just as many OOC ones as it does IC. At the most literal level, suicide &lt;password&gt;’s intent is to kill your character.

But many of you aren’t beating around the bush, so I won’t either. The forcer doing what he did was a tricky move, but he wasn’t guaranteed the clone would be a success. I can certainly understand why a lot of people are bitter about the situation but the bottom line is, you got hosed. You can point fingers and say &quot;higher standards of roleplay&quot; but that is a whole other mess for a whole other thread. The fact of the matter is, what happened /was/ roleplay. Just because it wasn’t the kind with big elaborate emotes doesn’t mean it wasn’t roleplay, that it didn’t advance the plot, that it didn’t cause other characters to develop as a reaction.

Even though I thought the move was lame, I thought it extremely clever all at the same time.

There’s already a penalty for ‘suiciding’.. you don’t get your deposit back in RP points on your account. Though I do agree that it’s IC partially, it’s also OOC, I suicide my characters when they’ve been out of use so long they’re irrelavant. I had a character that was in the galactic empire just disappear off the face of the earth until the new clans formed.. and I deleted her because she was.. useless.

You do actually get back your deposit points so, that ‘penalty’ is gone. =P

Take clones out, or make them retardedly expensive to make, IMO. I hate plotting the death of somebody for a long time, finally pulling it off and then they are like &quot;LOL CLONE GUISE&quot; because by random chance they were allowed a second chance to live.
