Why would you play a Scientist over an Engineer? I’ve been looking at different races levels and notice that some races get 5’s in both science and engineering. Same with science/medical espionage/slicer. Is there more behind picking a main than just reaching the highest levels shown on showrace?

Sometimes it’s a roleplay decision, sometimes it’s based on the levels of the subclasses. As a for instance, look at Jawa.
An engineer main and science main Jawa has 5 engi and 5 sci, and sci benefits an engineer immensely more so than any other class. However, look at the other classes. A sci main jawa has more medical, more espionage, more piloting. So you’d maybe able to do cyber surgery and fly large spacecraft as well.
So when engineering and science are both 5, you’re mostly looking at the other classes instead. What kind of skills you want to round your character out.
Some races it’s a straight better choice to not be a science main, some races it’s a different type of character altogether.
