Just something that came to mind when I just did it (probably for the up-teenth time and not the last). When a character is blocking an exit, a few things need to come into light.

First, it should show the person who is blocking who just bumped into them/tried to get through that exit.

IE. north, A human male is blocking the exit., A female twi’lek just tried to get past you.

Or something like that. Next, perhaps we could include sneaking. A sneaking character could possibly have the ability to slip pass a person blocking an exit. If not sneaking, then perhaps a new smuggling skill, like an advanced sneak or something. I don’t know. Maybe no skill at all, but the ability to sneak by someone should be possible in my opinion.

Still on the subject on sneak, I feel it should be raised up on the smuggling ladder. Everyone and their mother runs around like they are g’damn Solid Snake or something. Unless you get lucky with a lck roll and get high enough smuggling or are a smuggler main, you should not be sneaking around EVERYWHERE from your ship, to the bank, to what have you.

Also, I always thought you should be able to move while HIDDEN while sneaking. The lag in between movements should be significantly longer to show how carefully you move to remain unseen, but it should be possible. ALSO. Please make it so you can’t hide with other people in the room.

      Hell to the yeah.

I wholely agree with the sneak thing, it’s one damned fine point.

I think you people are looking at sneak like it were sneak and hide combined. All sneak is is moving quietly. In the Star Wars galaxy, they have personal items that dampen sound. You wouldn’t even need to put effort into it. And, failing that, it’s not like it’s tough to walk quietly… unless you’re wearing like, corduroy.

Now, if you wanna make sneak interesting, make the skill the ability to use a dampener, and include dampeners as buyable/questable items at smuggler areas.

Well no, you can sneak around, sure. But why not just separate it then? Raise the level on sneak so only those with the skill can, and then allow people to buy a dampener with a separate skill in maybe combat or something. But no, sneak and the ability to use a dampener are two separate things. One is skill, the other is technology.

Having a high level skill would be moot if you could get an item to do it anyways.

Or just make sneak take up a lot of movement.

To be fair, I really don’t see people sneaking all that often. I can’t help but see the arguments against sneak as a sort of, "I’m not good enough to deal with this". If that’s the case, the same could be said of a lot of things that are difficult to counter in-game, like Force-users. Do we remove it because a few people don’t have the common sense to look around every now and then? I don’t think we should.

As it stands, your average person using sneak is pretty visible from the ‘is sneaking’ flag, and that should be enough to get a person’s attention and put them on guard. Smugglers and sneaky types get access to silent sneak, which gives them that added bit of talent. So my suggestion to everyone is, use that look command.

      Or the watch command
