Have you guys ever thought of adding an auto-reboot?
It would be awesome if you did add it because the MUD crashes…A LOT <!– s:cry: –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cry.gif" alt=":cry:" title="Crying or Very sad" /><!– s:cry: –>

The downside to that is if there’s a serious problem, and the game auto-reboots.. it’ll just keep crashing. And maybe screw itself up worse.

Nah. It’s a good question, that’s not really been clarified over, or at least in a way where everybody can see it.
( And besides, I really dunno, that’s just me saying. <!– s:P –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt="" title="Razz" /><!– s:P –> I don’t even know if an auto-reboot is actually possible! )

Most other MUDs have an auto-reboot script, I’m actually surprised that this one doesn’t. The whole re-crash problem can be overcome by using a script that records how long the MUD was up last time, and if it is less than say a few seconds, it doesn’t reload itself again.

We’ve had various types of reboot scripts over the years, none of them (obviously) being too effective for various different reasons

I put in some new scripts and utilities to help the mud reboot quicker <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

I like the new scripts and the mud not being down for more than 2 minutes at a time, but what keeps causing these late-night crashes?
