I know that when you click "Submit" on an application, it says on the button that it is irreversible. For the most part, that’s fine. Personally, I think that you should be able to go back and edit parts of your application if, for instance, you think of something that you should have included in your app that did not occur to you before or whatnot.

      Thoughts?

I think the imms take this stuff with a grain of salt and they’d likely talk to the person before going ahead with it.

What happens when your application has been viewed by a couple of IMMs and stamped with their vote…only to have you change it the next day? I think this is the reason you can’t change it once its submitted.

Well I think after a certain amount of time has passed, the app should become uneditable, but for… say the first three days… the creator of the app should be able to go in and do minor edits to the application. I know from personal experiences that regardless of whether you plan out an app in Notepad/Wordpad for months on end or create one on the fly in a matter of fifteen minutes, there’s almost always some details that you may forget and accidentally leave out.

So what I’m proposing is that for the first three days after an app submission, the creator of the app should be able to go in and make minor edits to the application. After the three days have passed, the app is locked and reviewable by the Immortal staff.

I think having a 24-48 window grace period for editing isn’t a bad idea. Likewise, I think players should have a way to withdraw their application. If a character gets permed or they just decide they don’t want to go through with it.

The problem is that you say ‘minor’ changes…there really isn’t a way to regulate that. Now that I think about it, maybe the issue could be rectified by letting people save ‘drafts’ for later editing.

I’d much rather see a notes/comments section that the player can see things posted by the staff concerning the application. Of course not all of it needs to be seen, but things like "I like the application if you removed X" or "We really don’t need yet another child character" etc etc etc

What if you couldn’t actually edit anything, but you could add amendments? So the original version of the application as it was sent in is unchanged, but there could be a note at the bottom including any information that was forgotten.

The point you all are missing is that the application would not be made available for review by an Immortal until AFTER the 24-72 hour grace period is over and the application is locked from further editing. Once the application is locked, then it would be submitted for Immortal review. That way an applicant has time to polish up his application should he/she think of something new that could be added or something irrelevant that can be taken away prior to an Immortal reading it.

I’d rather have a yes/no answer on my application after 72 hours…than have the ability to add a couple of changes

It exists, and I try to use it when I can (the most common thing is what you said, "we aren’t accepting child apps at this time" etc.).
