I guess this used to be a thing but is there a reason multiclanning isn’t allowed any longer re: allied engi/majors? I wasn’t around for it so I’m not really sure what the issue was.

I’m not entirely sure what the issue was, but it had something to do with Flek and Arakyd Industries allying with every clan two timelines ago and multiclanning with allies getting abused or some shit like that.

The impetus for removing it was one clan allying with every other clan and it was just a really messy web of alts in clans. I can understand why it could be a good idea but I don’t think there’s a practical way to do it that doesn’t lead to sticky situation

Why not have it so that only one clan can be multiclanned across to, then? No messy webs that way.

If two clans are sharing populations why are they separate clans? Mechanics of how it works aside, why should it be an option?

Developments, at this point. You can only have one active development per clan. An engineer in a major clan is not nearly as useful as an engineer in an engineering clan. Not to mention, if you want to build ships, you can’t be a major because they’re not allowed to have shipyards. There’s dozens of factors at work, here.
Mechanics are basically the whole reason.

I meant mechanics of how it would be enforced.
Is there a way to enable bonuses like ‘helping build ships’ without resorting to multiclanning?

Zeromus says ra ra ra raa rarara. He told me to tell you that.
Maybe there could be like development treaties or commerce treaties for that sort of thing that give bonuses to the participating clans, some other reasons to be diplomatic instead of just ‘don’t kill each other and sell each other stuff’. I remember plenty of times just this TL when people would ferry engineers to a minor clan to help build stuff on their pad.

To be honest, I think theirs too many people cheating at the moment as it is, why open it up so people can metagame even more?

If you think there are too many people cheating why haven’t you told imms . _ .

If not multiclanning, then what Altrez said. Give clans a reason to make nice with each other, instead of forcing their engineers on an engineering clan to build things.

The issue that arises with this is either what happened previously (allying with every clan ever so we can all join 5-6 different clans), or the “what if” scenario of the clans people are allowed to multiclan in ending up in conflict with eachother. Do we demand everyone immediately resigns alts from one of the two factions? Do we have to manually load them up and remove them all? Deal with the inevitable “player X caused this whole mess and he has an alt in this clan so its deliberate, yada yada…”.
Although there are some small arguments to be made for multiclanning, the negatives far outweigh the positives.

i have been begging to be able to play a warrior race during eot/eoes for ever but i’m always in an engineering clan. always told “welp you chose that” so this is dumb
