Hey Imms! Think you could make a blue swirling screen for when you LOOK outside the ship while in hyperspace?

That would be neat. Considering it was supposed to be unnerving and maddening to look directly at hyperspace, starships would opaque the transparisteel. Have this happen automatically, but give people the option to make it clear during travel. If you’re in a room with non-opaque transparisteel in hyperspace, have it start affecting your mental state, etc. I read somewhere that certain individuals (Vadar in particular), would fly in hyperspace with it viewable and just stare at it in flight. Could be something for those evil forcers on capships to do to their minions to unnerve them.

While this would be interesting and probably doable with ASCII art, it would also be pointless and require coding that could be better spent in other areas.

Well, it could be accomplished with an exdesc in each area with a window assigned to the word ‘out’ I guess, or ‘space’, or ‘window’, so that the command would give you the art picture, but would still be fairly pointless and a lot of work. It[b:9mv54b97] is[/b:9mv54b97] a MUD.

I agree with you regarding the ASCII art. However, for a game mechanic, it would be nice to see something indicating you’re in hyperspace or the transparisteel windows have been opaqued or something beyond what we have now.
