Alright espionage feats have been absent for some time and I think a really good one would be Fake Profile. Espionage players are supposed to be spy’s right? So why not have a feat that was like level 80 that would allow you to write a fake profile so if someone scanned you with lookup it would come up instead of your true identity. It would be really helpful to members of opposing clans who were caught, and I think 80 is high enough that some combatant type players would get it but more often then not it would be people more dedicated to being an espionage main that would end up with it. It should also only be a feat that the person that has it can do on themselves making it more unique, instead of one person getting it and doing it to everyone in the mud regardless of espionage levels. That’s the only feat I could think of right now that wouldn’t be either lame, or overpowered.
What do you guys think?

I like it except it would be wasted effort. To be honest there are enough players who don’t even bother writing a profile. Especially in opposing clan war.

QFT — Hell there are people who don’t bother writing a profile outside of the one created at chargen period regardless of whether or not there’s a war.

Perhaps crank the feat level right up and just have it hide the characters clan affiliation, its easy enough to doctor your profile without making a new one.

Maybe a better feat would be something that stopped people from looking you up at all. You know, a kind of ‘erase all identification’ type feat like MIB.

Like encrypt_file?

No. Encrypt/decrypt file make it so that it’s still there, just encrypted and unreadable. my idea would make it completely disappear. IE: Lookup would return something like ‘you can’t find any information on this person.’

That’s what encrypt file does. You can’t look them up untill its decrypted. We have a decrypt for game balance issues.

That is almost word for word the message you get if you try to lookup somebody whose file in encrypted.

I was basically just thinking you would write a profile like this:
Name
Race
Etc…It can be as big or as small as you want, the main trait that would benefit players would be the clan affiliation would not say anything.
So you could be getting ID checked by an Imperial, and if you are a rebellion member and had this feat and wrote and used it…then when he scanned you it would say you are unemployed. As long as you played your cards right and didn’t have incriminating equipment then you would most likely walk away quite unscathed.

Typically our Rebellion is a hidden clan. Currently when you are employed by a hidden clan and you are looked up, you do not show clan affiliation. Code already supports this bro <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="

Last time I checked that wasn’t the case, but they might have fixed it since the fall of 07 or so.

Every time I’ve done this (spanning from era 3 of last timeline to era 1 of the current timeline), this is not the case. Hidden clans are hidden from the clans list, but a lookup will still display your affiliation.

This was tested era 1 by an imm. Seems it does conceal your clan if you’re in a crime clan.

Unless it got borked somehow. Probably should be tested again just to be absolutely certain.
