Talking about help jail_guidelines earlier made me think.
CAPITAL PUNISHMENT
If a clan issues the death penalty for a prisoner, it must follow the
guidelines laid out in HELP PERM. If the RPC should find a death penalty perm
illegal, the character will be restored to the captors’ jail cell and an
Immortal note on the message terminal. The last part of this seems really ill conceived. Why would you go back into that clan’s custody if they’ve already tried to illegally kill you? What are they going to do? Release you since they couldn’t kill you? That seems more awkward than two turtles in the Antarctic.
Just a thought.

Sometimes a clan has very good reasons to jail someone but it wouldn’t be fair to kill them. Restoring them to jail lets the clan hold the person for up to 7 days (or longer if imms approve), and it gives the prisoner a chance to collect his belongings from his locker when he’s released.

Help Restore also states that the permer cannot initiate aggressive action against the permed unless provoked.

It isn’t an argument for me. They should be restored back into custody unless the Immortals find it necessary to transfer them out of the prison. That’s how it works. If the perming clan follows Help Restore, then it should be fine.

If the perm is found illegal, the clan can always think of something else to do with the prisoner anyway.

If the clan drops the ball and acts like retards, ie illegally perming a prisoner, the person should be released. Not fair that they get a second chance to fuck up.

If the clan drops the ball and acts like retards, then it’s up to the Immortals to start fucking people in the ass until people get their heads screwed on straight. Consistent violations of Help Restore and Help Perm SHOULD be punished.

I’m in agreement with Avanga. At least one rule has already been found violated if the person is restored after an illegal perm. Why should the victim be put right back into the hands of the people who broke the rule for a week (perhaps more)? All it really does is encourage foul behavior on the victim’s part in the future.
Kirash, the consistent violations would have to come over a period of time anyway. Not just with one person. Nor should the victim essentially be held responsible when their jailer wasn’t if they tried to illegally perm them.

well people need to be held accountable when jail_guidelines, help perm, and help restore are violated on a consistent trend. that is the core of the issue here. the immortals will usually transfer someone out of jail anyway after an overturned perm, but there are some situations where doing that is just plain out of the question.
