Interested in building for LOTJ? Great! We'd love to have you. We can accommodate different skill levels, and we're happy to help you learn the more complicated aspects of building
One of the most important aspects is planning your area in advance: imms feel more comfortable approving your idea if we know what to expect, and a good plan will help you keep on track. If you're interested in building for LOTJ, you can reach out to a staff member to discuss your idea, but be prepared to email a plan to [email protected]
Here are the main lanes of building you can help with. NOTE: building new planets is reserved for staff and experienced builders.
New Ships.
Designing and building new ship templates is an easy way for new builders to get acquainted with our systems. This work is broken into two parts: building out the ship rooms, then properly assembling it into a "ship"
New Questing Areas.
We are interested in adding new areas to our pre-existing planets that serve a clear purpose and match the planet aesthetic: whether its leveling up, obtaining gear, or adding to the roleplay environment. This work is smaller scale than an entirely new planet, but requires a fair amount of LOTJ gameplay knowledge and building prowess (SMAUG progs, LUA) Think the Tatooine junkyard, the Mon Cala hunting grounds, or Wroona's Blackrock Cove.
New Events.
The latest, coolest building layer powered by LUA that allows staff to deploy or automate events in the gameworld. Think the White Whaladon hunt or deep space asteroid mining.
