Definition of the RPC

The RPC (RolePlay Council) is a board of officials, elected by the playerbase to serve as a resource to the players of LotJ. The primary function of the RPC is to serve as a front line of communication between the players and the staff. The RPC is also the primary method for players to appeal a death based on a violation of the rules. The RPC also serves as a source of information for curious players.

No one RPC member can overrule another, and the group cannot overrule an immortal. They can be considered the jury of the mud in cases of illegal perming. RPC members are needed to determine where the truth lies in a situation in the form of voting.

Powers and Limitations

What the RPC can do:

The RPC have the authority as a group to influence rules, accept or decline player requests for PK-related restores, recommend punishments for offenders, answer questions, and monitor the OOC channel.

What the RPC cannot do:

The RPC cannot decide to award a restore for a code related death, carry out or issue a punishment for a player, stop a scene of roleplay because a player is complaining, or require a scene be replayed based on "unfairness" or any kind of personal preference.

RPC does not have the ability to monitor channels, see through disguises, check greets, or locate players. They have no means of directly interfering with or discovering information about characters. While multiplaying, the RPC must control themselves, because if proof that he or she used information from his or her RPC character on his or her mortal is found, he or she will be in violation of this agreement.

RPC and PK

Persons wishing to contest a perm are to contact a RPC member and have the following information available: the name of the permed character, the rule they believed broken, a summary of the situation, and a log of the case (if available). The case will be posted within 48 hours of being reported to the RPC member. This time is to allow for log searching and interviewing of all parties involved. The RPC will then have 48 hours to vote on a case, with the majority deciding. If the voting results in a tie, a PR or other immortal will vote as a tie-breaker.

Voting

RPC are required to vote on cases, some of which can be vastly different from the last. An RPC member may not partake in a vote/discussion/debate or the questioning of any parties if the conflict in question involves their own mortal. A full council is needed to vote, and RPC who have a stake in the conflict must ABSTAIN or risk reprimand. The RPC is a part of the team for LotJ. They show up on the wizlist, and they represent LotJ on a daily basis. They were elected by the players, but they work for the Owners. It is their responsibility to somewhat police the players, and to pass on their judgements to the PR department. This is the extent of their duty. On rare occasions, and with supporting cases the RPC has considered, the RPC can make a motion to affect the rules. The motion merely serves to indicate to the PR department what the RPC wishes to be done to negate future incidents of the problem occuring. This is not to be done on a daily basis, and the PR/Owners can veto the vote if they feel it prudent to do so. There can be no argument with this.

Rule Violations

RPC does not have a hand in rule violations beyond perming. They will refer players they believe have violated the rules and deserve punishment to PR, who will research and determine if necessary. Players, staff and RPC will bring rules breakers to the attention of a PR staff member, who will research and vote on deserved punishment and then assign that punishment.

Spyapp

RPC members do not vote on spy applications. They may take the request and pass on information to a PR, but they do not directly vote or influence the spyapp.
