So I was thinking… wouldn’t it be nice to have a way to detect and disarm mines? Favored tactic of the weak is usually to mine ships. End all, be all. Would love a way to counter that.

It would be nice.
Maybe a feat ‘Minesweeper’ or perhaps ‘Minesweep’, that would let you get past the mines without getting yourself blown up, but it would take some movement points from you and lag you each time you used it. Later, you’d have to ‘Minedisarm’ with a small chance of failure, depending on your %.

Once upon a time I was recoding the smuggler "detrap" skill to passively give you a chance of not setting off a landmine when you walk into a room and to also let you disarm nades someone else armed. I got half of it working but the other half was buggy. It was awesome! I wonder what happened to it.

Kirash just ran across a situation where he had to blow up a ship he didn’t really want to blow up because he thought it was mined.
For everything, there should be a counter (grenades don’t count).

SHow about implementing sabotage with the ability to rig a ship to detonate on launch? I could see it now.
You enter your ship, turn off the autopilot, launch the ship…
BOOM!
A fiery explosion from the engine room tears your ship apart.

Walldoport should be up in a day or two (which means I’m back to coding on occasion).
I found a file with a half-coded detrap for landmines and grenades so I’ll see about getting that working.
