Legends of the Jedi is a roleplay-enforced MUD that prioritizes immersion into the Star Wars galaxy. Roleplaying is the heart of the LOTJ experience; it is about bringing a character to life, flaws and all, to contribute to a grand, collaborative story that you and your fellow players create together. LOTJ caters to a wide range of roleplayers, from casual players to groups looking for a truly immersive experience. Tell Your Story In The Galaxy

Legends of the Jedi is a collaborative storytelling engine that bridges the gap between deep, immersive Star Wars lore and a highly complex, feature-rich gaming experience. Players fill all of the key roles, from clan leaders and senate politicians, to brave warriors, to the engineers that power the economy, to the mysterious Jedi and Sith.

A Unique Timeline System

LOTJ does not follow specific Star Wars Canon, and we are not anchored in any one fixed point in the story. Our unique rolling timeline system explores the most iconic eras of Star Wars on a two-year basis, providing a living canvas for your stories. One timeline is divided into three eras, each one visiting a classic Star Wars setting, from ancient conflicts of the Old Republic, to the rise of the Galactic Empire, to the birth of the New Republic.

A typical timeline takes about two years to complete, and no two timelines play out the same way: each one is shaped by the action and direction of your collective player characters.

Maintaining the Environment

We ask our players to protect the "fourth wall" of our galaxy. The goal is a seamless, professional experience where OOC (Out of Character) mechanics never bleed into the story.

• Stay In-Character: Avoid referencing staff, rules, or OOC mechanisms in your dialogue. If a statement feels clever because it relies on "meta" knowledge or OOC mechanics, it is likely breaking immersion.
• Strict IC/OOC Separation: To keep the story fair and immersive, players are expected to minimize the sharing of In-Character (IC) details outside of the game. Discussing IC information in OOC channels is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Locations of characters, ships, planets, or objects.
  • Specific plans, current activities, or past events involving your character or clan.
  • Identities of attackers or the strategic goals of your organization.

Our Approach: "Tell Your Story, Don't Try To Win"

While LOTJ includes competitive elements like player combat and clan warfare, our focus is on collective storytelling over pure competitive optimization. Remember that the person playing your rival today could be your best friend tomorrow; we are all here to tell compelling Star Wars stories together. Our environment thrives when players embrace conflict, growth, and even failure as essential narrative beats.

• Dissociation is Key: We encourage players to separate their personal identity from their character. A master roleplayer makes every character unique, ensuring that their current role feels distinct from every other character they have played.
• Respect Player Agency: "Godmodding" or forcing outcomes on others is strictly prohibited. Your character's actions should challenge others, not dictate their reactions.
• The Value of Life: We encourage conflict, but we also respect the survival instinct. Your character should feel fear and value their own safety. "Blaze of glory" moments are most powerful when they are earned, not forced.

Immersion & Growth

We believe in the power of the journey. New characters are not meant to know everything, and starting with all the answers can actually rob you of the best parts of the experience.

• The Power of Growth: We encourage you to embrace the "Academy experience." Ask questions, seek mentors, and allow your character to discover the galaxy alongside you. This creates a much more rewarding narrative arc.
• Excessive Knowledge: Avoid creating characters who know everything right out of the Academy. If you find yourself already putting veterans in their place with secret information or locations, you are likely missing out on the growth experience. Just as you may eventually mentor new players, allow others the rewarding experience of showing you the ropes.
• Powergaming: Roleplay powergaming occurs when a player abuses in-game mechanics, external information, or roleplay concepts to gain an unrealistic advantage. Playing a character and telling a story should always be more important than "winning".
• OOC Coordination: Planning or coordinating roleplay through OOC means is strictly prohibited. This behavior provides an unfair advantage and undermines the spirit of the game.
