Because it’s been openly abused a few times in the past, on me at the very least, I think it would be a good idea for tells to show you what someone is targetting to send a tell to you so you can respond.

No one wants everyone knowing their characters. I know that when I start out I don’t like pretty well anyone knowing outside of a few people I actually feel safe enough believing will leave me the hell alone if I want.

So many times someone will send me a tell out of nowhere with a random question, sometimes pertaining to OOC or the like, and I’ll immediately get another tell/AIM/MSN or something from some asshat saying "LOL I KNEW IT WAS YOU" because they sent a tell to my character name and I replied with my account name on, or vice versa.

If we could have something in the tell system that let you know someone is talking to @Asshat or the character Fuckwit, it would stop a lot of the information-spreading that gets done about who plays who that isn’t the normal guessing based on typing style, familiar typos, or general ‘oh god they rolled their last three characters again’.

Instead of being "_________ tells you ‘something retarded’"
it would be "_________ tells @You ‘something retarded’" or "___________ tells Yourcharacter ‘something retarded’"

Other suggestions were it would still be the original "_________ tells you" but with (Charname) or (@Account) before it, so you know how you should respond.

This will severely cut down on a lot of OOC-nonsense, and general clique behaviour of most people. Not all, but most. It’s really just opening the door for people to be asshats and creeps more then they are already.

Alternatively… other people’s names are currently displayed in white (when they send you a tell) if you have your account name on, and in blue if you’re using your character name. It’d be much much much better if it worked that way when YOU sent a tell, but in a received tell the color depended on who the tell was addressed to. That’s actually how I thought it did work… until I worked out it didn’t.

ANYWAY. However it’s implemented, this is an awesome idea.

There was actually a bug with tells where you could see if an account/character was online by sending a tell to them with your account name on. If their name was white when you sent the tell, they were online. If their name was blue, they were offline.

This was abused by a few of the same people who wound up getting ‘who <specific race>’ removed.

I just don’t get why people have to know who other people’s characters are. And why the hell they stalk them.

I’ll work on this. I definitely agree we need to fix a lot of this. There are WAY too many creepers around.

I’m in your games, stalking your characters.

This is why bro. It’s the age old thing about the anonymity of the Internet that allows the creeping pervs to run rampant.

Fixed… only because you post some awesome links! =D <3

Anywho, I am in complete agreement with anything that will help curtail the mass idiocy that is creeping. Seriously, creepers, gtfo…

Out of curiosity, has this always been a problem or has it just started getting really really bad recently? I’ve been playing here for a little while and, aside from the previous thread in General Discussion, I haven’t seen much posted about it.

No.. no, it’s not really anything new. There are always pricks. And it’s not just here, it’s everywhere you go just about.

I always just account chatname before sending any tell replies, just to make sure.

What she is getting at is that doesn’t always work man. What if I suspect you play a wroonian named bob but I am not sure. I send a tell to bob or I might even send a tell to @troll. She wants a way to see what they sent a tell too. If I send it to @troll and bob reply’s OMG I KNEW IT! or send a tell to bob and troll reply’s.
