The Togruta were a humanoid species from the planet Shili. In order to protect themselves from dangerous predators, the Togruta would band together in dense tribes and rely solely on their natural pigmentation to distract and confuse slow-witted beasts.

Physiology and Culture
Togruta had mostly red skin, with lighter patches around the eyes. Their heads bore large horns and tentacles similar to Twi'lek lekku, with a bold striped pattern. They are of a very similar height and build to humans.
Togruta enjoy devouring thimiars, small rodents native to Shili. Togrutas had sharp teeth and when they bit into their furry little quarry, the creature's postmortem spasms gave the incorrect impression that Togruta were venomous. Togrutas take advantage of this intimidating reputation and do nothing to dispel the rumor.
Togruta were a tribal, hunter-gatherer culture that discouraged independence yet leaders usually ascend through asserting their individuality. Togrutas are social, forthright, perceptive and attentive.
Role in LotJ
Togruta who find life too contricting on Shili may leave to hunt among the stars. Togruta are cunning warriors and hunters though their enhanced natural perception makes them capable spies or diplomats as well.
Togruta can speak Galactic Basic.
