AKA: Doctors, Medics

Please note: There is also a science skill called medical.

In a galaxy full of conflict, a well-trained Doctor will always find ways to help their cause (or turn a profit!). Doctors can learn to diagnose and treat injuries, revive fallen comrades, install cybernetic implants and even to clone people. Some of the most naturally gifted Medics include Arkanians, Bith, Kaminoans, Khommites and Verpine.

Skills

1) aid
Syntax: aid <character>

This skill allows you to bring a stunned person back into consciousness. This will only work on a character with between -150 and 0 hit points and does not remove effects from skills such as blackjack and inject.

3) first aid
Syntax: first <victim>

First aid is a skill that uses a medpac to tend to the wounds of another, or yourself. This will deduct one unit from the medpac and heal a small amount of damage.

10) diagnose
Syntax: Diagnose <target>

This skill will show physical stats about another character though the use of a datapad. At level 10, this skill will reveal the target's current/maximum HP and MP and list any wounds. At higher levels, it will automatically include a list of cybernetic implants, status effects, and resistances, immunities, and susceptibilities. You must be close to a person and be holding a datapad with a medical modulation or higher to use this skill.

25) makemedpac
Syntax: makemedpac <medpac name>

This allows a skilled doctor or field medic to build a medical kit using equipment from their local hospital. With the right amount of experience, all a medical practicioner will need are parts and not medical facilities to construct a medical kit. The more experience in crafting these medical kits, coupled with the practicioner's experience may determine the extent to which the patients wounds are treated.

30) revive
Syntax: Revive (character)

Unlike the more limited aid skill, this will wake any unconscious patient. Any paralysis or sleep effect will be removed, including blackjack, stasis, and inject. Even incapacitated and mortally wounded targets can be brought back to 1 HP with this skill. In order to use, you must be holding a medpac. It will deduct 1 unit from the medpac, and revive the target.

50) doctor
Syntax: doctor <target>

Doctor is a skill similiar to first aid, but it provides one with the ability to heal without a medpac; although it is slower. There is also an option to hold a medpac and use doctor to restore more health than without one.

55) inject
Syntax: Inject <target>

This skill allows a player to inject a target with the contents of a syringe. Syringes generally contain an anesthetic, which causes the victim to sleep involuntarily. Requires an unused syringe.

75) healwound
Syntax: healwound <target> <wound location>

This medical skill requires a medpac, and will attempt to heal a wound sustained by the target. To see what wounds they have, use the diagnose skill or ask them to check the wounds command. Wounds are generally the result of combat and, if untreated, can cause someone to bleed to death.

100) cyber
Syntax: cyber <victim>

A doctor can use this skill to install cybernetic parts into the body of their victim. There are a few things you must keep in mind when doing this. Firstly, the victim MUST be sedated, as they would thrash about incredibly if they were awake during the operation. Next, the victim cannot wake before the process is completed. If they do, the surgeon will fail to complete the surgery. If the surgeon is distracted, and doesn't complete what he or she is doing, the patient will be sent to the hospital, if any ambulances are present in the planetary region.

Cybernetic parts are in various places throughout the galaxy. Some say that some engineers can learn to tweak the cybernetic parts, increasing their effectiveness. Be forewarned! Cybernetic surgery is the most dangerous operation anyone can undertake. Cybernetics do not save with clones, as well.

You must hold the cybernetic part. All cybernetics can be held and this makes it possible to have cybernetic parts restricted to a clan.

150) clone
Syntax: CLONE <victim>

Cloning is a special art, the mastery of DNA. Skilled medics and scientists have spent ages perfecting the art, and while it's still tempermental, it remains the most widely used technique of essentially lengthening ones life. While a clone doesn't keep your awareness, they keep your memories until the time of cloning. They also keep your skills, and abilities. The mitochlorions in your blood, if you have any, will remain with the clone as well. Be warned, however, cloning has a side effect. Cellular degradation, where the cloning of a clone breaks down the integrity of the DNA, effectively thinning it out to the point where it becomes useless. There have also been reported instances of random advanced cellular breakdown, where the clone's DNA begins to decay almost instantly. Sadly, this is not detectable, nor is it preventable. Be careful who you choose to clone you, on your head be it.

Find a place to clone, and either have a medic use CLONE <victim> or use the command BUYCLONE.

WARNING: Your character remembers little when they wake up. Consider it a form of amnesia brought about by cloning and resulting storage of the clone. As such you cannot carry on any grudges from being killed. Due to the fact that a clone may happen at any time, please make a clear distinction between how things were going when you died and how they go when your clone awakes.

NOTE: A new security feature has been added. To be cloned by a player, you must first type CONFIG +CLONE. This will make it possible for people to clone you (not required for buyclone). After you have been cloned, you will need to config +clone again the next time you wish to be cloned.
