Just a little something I noticed. When you restring armor, one would assume that you cannot tell off the bat what sex the character is beneath the armor. But I have noticed that when you look at someone who has restrung armor, it will say You see nothing special about her/him. Maybe we could get that change to them? Just a thought and a small inquiry.

Bump. This needs to be done.
(For Class 2 and 3 armor. I think Class 1 armor would be light enough for you to discern the person’s sex)

While we are at it, might as well let players do capital letters in restrings.

Yeah the capitals is a must, I am sure imms are tired of this.
( IMM | CHAT )[Anastasius]: ‘can I get an imm to capatalize my restring?’
( IMM | CHAT ) Walldo mortchats to you ‘No’
( IMM | CHAT )[Anastasius]: ‘aww how come <!– s:( –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt="

^^ This is similar to how I think of our armor class system, with Standard Exo-Suit being class 1, Agile Exo-Suit being class 2, and Reinforced Exi-Suit being class 3. Classes 1 and 2 you can discern the sex, but class 3 could be either and you’d have very little to base an assumption on. It’s a small change, but sometimes it’s the little things that matter.

I’d agree with that, without having visted your weird, non-Star Wars site.
Stormtrooper armor and Boba Fett’s armor were both class II, and you could more than likely tell gender with those. Sure, it’s heavy armor, but it’s still form-fitting plates, not all-encompassing armor like class III is.

I’ve got a quick curiousity.. what is the point behind only IMM-made restrings being able to have capital letters in them?
-
March 4, 2009 at 3:50 am #9357
Yeah, I don’t get it either, I would think it would be allowed mudwide simply so that no one can tell who is clan member of which clan and who to go after.

I would imagine it’s like that so that not every single player on the mud can be ‘An Imperial Stormtrooper’ or ‘A Republic Commando’. It means the ones who -do- have the capital letters in their restrings are either the real deal, or killed one of them/stole their armor.

Which goes back to Gann’s post of knowing who is or isn’t (potentially) clanned.
As a side note, I fucking loved Planetside.

I chalk the no-caps thing up to "anti-counterfeiting measures." Just like the American dollar, one of the world-wide symbols of America, has measures in it to prevent its being copied–and thus to prevent other people/countries/whatever from being able to claim they’re America.
That’d work with armor, too; the Imperials would probably add in anti-copy measures to Stormtrooper armor so they wouldn’t have fake Stormtroopers running amuck.

The caps rule, imo, is strictly an OOC observation. just like the old disguise code was. People would use that ooc information to try and bring it IC.

There are ways. One of them is, you know, their restring… Know_essence also says if it’s clan gear or not, IIRC.
