To make droids be of more use, incorporate an ‘upgrade’ system for droids. Basically think of it as ‘feats’ for our robotic friends.
Slicer level <whatever> skill, because slicers are good at reprogramming droids.
One idea might be that, for all those upgrades that are player skills, require the slicer to have that skill in order to upgrade a droid with it. IE, must be level 140 combat to do ‘blastdoor’
[b:knfxfr17]Upgrade List[/b:knfxfr17]
Sneak command
Movement (you can order the droid to different rooms)
Hide command
Blastdoor command
A piloting module – The higher the slicer’s piloting level, the larger ship the droid can maneuver? Calculate with shipsize list, not just small/medium/large
Repair equipment
Camera_sweep
Tail command
Recon (the droid acts as a mobile camera; players monitor it via datapad function)
Holoprojector (the droid would have a built in holoprojector, like the one Sidius had in episode 1)
Firstaid/revive/healwoundThe list is pretty much endless in terms of what droids could have upgrades for. Adding functions like this would allow for more diverse droids.
Imagine a droid that has movement/recon. Probe droid!
Tail and sneak becomes a spydroid.
Give them a little more personality!
Also, let us set droid descriptions.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
it would basically make the droid into a holoprojector (help transmit).
There was a droid with one in Episode 1, Sidius used it.

How about medical droids?
When set to assist, they would automatically cycle through medpacs until they run out (you have to give them medpacs) and use the first aid skill on whoever they see needs it.
On second thought, that would be too heavily abused by fighter types and would just become an overpowered twinkiness. How about they would assist medics with they CYBER skill and reduce time for it to complete, increase chance of better bonus from cyber, etc. Increase a medic’s hp restoration when using first aid or doctor, help the doctor make better medpacs… ya know.

Smaug code swr has it its the switch command for immortals but it can be made a skill, how ever its highly highly abuseable.

Dominate only charmned the mob the skill was the forcer spell posses in swr, and like I said it was abuseable you could be inside the mob and use mp functions such as gain withdraw advance trans echo

You’re just mad that Rahloow doesn’t get the levels to repair his own crap.

I do, too, actually. Just make it so they actually have to use the skill. SMAUG "repair armor rooms" where you just pay and get the crap back instantly annoy me to no end. Right up there with how medpacs are coded as far as realism goes.P.S. ALL ABOARD THE QUOTE TRAIN?

Unfortunately RJ, because of the fact that LOTJ is a -game-, not everything is going to be completely realistic. Then again, just how realistic is the whole concept of star wars? Not very.
There are times when decisions and changes need to be made(or not made, for that matter) based around [i:34lnowlg]gameplay[/i:34lnowlg] and -not- [i:34lnowlg]realism[/i:34lnowlg]. I think that a "repair all" option for a room in a Clan HQ or for a specialized droid would be nifty.
